The Daniel Courtney Trust aims to raise money to fund research into Microvillous Atrophy - a devastating condition of the bowel. It also aims to provide equipment and facilities for Great Ormond Street Hospital, Birmingham Children's Hospital and Edward House. Finally it aims to increase awareness of organ donation.

Story

We made it!!! 11.5 hours this year which was a whole two and a half hours quicker than last time!  A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us!  The draw for the mobile phone takes place on Wednesday evening - June 2nd

***CONGRATULATIONS to Isobel Johnson (Issy) who is now the proud owner of a brand new mobile phone!! ***

Well we've gone and signed up again!! The Big Black Mountain Challenge - all 47 km of it (about 30 miles in old money!)
taking in 15 summits over 660m around the breathtaking scenery of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons.  It seems that the 70 mph winds, hail and driving rain of last year is not enough to put us off - either that, or we have very short memories!!

Once again, there is a reason behind our madness - we're doing this in memory of Jo's son Daniel, who suffered from Microvillous Atrophy (MVA) and very sadly died in April 2005 at the age of 16 months after a multi-organ transplant.

We are hoping to raise money for Daniel's charity which aims to fund research into MVA and help those families and children who are affected by this extremely rare and totally devastating genetic condition. Thanks to the very lovely people at Vodafone, we have decided to do something a bit different this year.  We will be holding a prize draw for all our supporters  - with the  chance to win a fantastic PAYG Samsung Monte mobile phone worth £130. Entry to the draw is free - but at the same time a small donation to Daniel's Charity would be much appreciated and really help to encourage us on our way.  Everyone who donates via this page will automatically be entered in the draw; anyone else who would like to enter please email your name and a contact number to smile@makingitbetter.org.uk  Once our Justgiving page has closed at the beginning of June, we will put all the names into a hat and the first name to be picked out will be the winner!!

There's lots more information about Daniel's Charity at makingitbetter.org.uk so please take a look. Also please consider signing up to the NHS Organ Donor Register - there are thousands of children and adults waiting for a life-saving transplant, but for many their wait will be in vain due to a desperate shortage of donors.

We will not be alone on this epic journey - we have managed to persuade (coerce?!) some friends to join us - Andrea, Ben and Flynn!  They are raising money for
The Foundation for Conductive Education which aims to improve  lives for children and adults with neurological motor disorders (such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis,  and cerebral palsy) through the practice of Conductive Education. Please check out their justgiving page at justgiving.com/andreabenflynn

Thank you so much for looking at our fund raising page and lending us your support!!
