We share the vision of an end to the pain & suffering of eating disorders

Story

At one point I was so ill I couldn't even climb the stairs, now I'm climbing a mountain.

I have battled with an eating disorder since early childhood, I have a primary diagnosis of anorexia nervosa but throughout my illness I have also battled with bulimia, laxative addiction and exercise addiction. My eating disorder has put me in hospital numerous times and still is something I battle with daily.

As I have had to overcome mountains in my battle with this horrific illness it feels very fitting that on Sock It To Eating Disorders Day 2015 I will climb an actual mountain. Recovery from an eating disorder is the biggest trek I have and will ever face, but it can be done. Mountains can be climbed #climbED

Also climbing Pen Y Fan will be Julie, my best friend and my rock through this illness. Julie has seen me through my best and worst days and together we can support each other and climb this mountain.

Throughout eating disorders awareness week (23 february-1st March 2015) I will be posting a blog post a day as well as a silly socks photo a day and also using the hashtag #climbED to tell the world that eating disorders can be beaten and to fight the stigma and stereotypes that surround this potentially fatal mental illness. Feel free to get involved.
