Well the fab four made it to the Summit!  Roz Tranfield, Sheryl Baguely, Sam Kenwright and Lisa Morrison all completed the task in hand and reached the summit of Uhuru Peak on top of Mount Kilimanjaro on the morning of Saturday 3rd July at 8am. Congratulations ladies in all of your efforts both in training for many months beforehand along with the relentless fundraising for our charity CHORF. I dont think any of you realised what you were actually putting yourselves in for, however I have since heard thats a good thing, as had you known you would all have had second thoughts!

In turn there were many events that almost led to one or two of the team not making it to the top. Altitude sickness effected both Roz and Lisa from the early stages, and it was touch and go as to wether they would be sent down. However somehow the group worked hard to stay positive and found that it was not only the physical energy needed to complete the task, but incredible mental strength was required. More so than anyone had realised that was the hardest part. Cheryl suffered with high blood pressure for a few days before the Summit night which resulted in few tears in the hours leading up to that final climb that almost stopped Cheryl from continuing. However all in all one way or another the four girls stuck together and managed to maintain their team spirit right to the end ( well almost!) The most gruelling thing for all involved was the final Summit climb which actually took in total over 20 hours to reach the top and descend into the Millenium Camp.

All four where totally exhausted and yet somehow elated, although this part may take a while to fully sink in! Unfortunatley Roz ended up in an African hospital for the final night with suspected pneumonia, but the trooper that she is kept smiling and cracking jokes!

All the girls would like to say a very BIG THANK YOU to all of those who have sponsored this amazing rather extreme challenge. Even at times when thinking back to all they have gone through it has to be said, just seeing the funds raised getting closer to the target, brings a great sense of huge satisfaction. IT WAS WORTH IT !!!!!
