We have created a blog to keep you updated with training and charity fund raising updates. Take a look here at http://clock-2-rock.blogspot.com

Heart disease kills 1 in 3 of us fact..! Its a lot isn't it? It's the biggest killer in this country by far. More than cancer, trauma the lot. The British Heart Foundation are working hard to reduce these numbers in all sorts of amazing ways and we are trying to help them to achieve their goals.

We have set ourselves a little goal for September this year. Paul and I will be attempting to ride to Gibraltar by bike over 2 weeks. It's about 1500 miles of cycling with an average of about 108 miles per day.

I dont expect it to be easy but i know that achieving our fund raising at the moment seems more daunting and difficult. We are hoping that you will consider us to be so mad that you will take sympathy upon us and donate as much as you can to help.

Do you know someone who has had a heart attack, high blood pressure, obesity, stroke? Then they will very likely have benefited from the work of the British Heart Foundation. You can read more about them here on their website

As for Paul and I well who are we are why are we doing this crazy thing? I will let Paul add his comments soon but here's my bit:

Jane Kennet

I am 40 something and fairly addicted to cycling I would say. That's not to say I am any good at it or particularly fast. I just love it. The furthest I have cycled in the past was 186 miles in a day when we cycled 'Vatternrundan' in Sweden and raised money for the Shooting Star Childrens Hospice.

As we get to middle age we often seem to do these crazy things, I am not sure why but I know that in some small way its helping to make a difference to other peoples lives. The BHF is a charity close to my heart (excuse the pun!). I have, as an exercise science graduate, an awe at the cardiovascular systems abilities and how easy it is for us to take it for granted. However when it goes wrong it's often catastrophic.

Last year my father had some major surgery as a result of vascular problems and his amazing surgeon Mr Varty (I love you Mr Varty, you are my hero) had previsously had training and research sponsored by the BHF. So I know they have touched my life and helped to save that of my father, for that I am truly thankful. You never know, dad could be there to meet us in Gibraltar although I might need someone's help to find travel insurance to get him there! Paul can you help...? :-)

I shall be updating this site from time to time and I shall add a link to a blog to document our progress through training and the event itself.

I know reaching the destination will ultimately be down to me but reaching our sponsorship target is not. Heres where I need your help. Please give whatever you can.

All that remains for me is to say THANK YOU.

See you in Gibraltar.....
