Story

On the 4th September 2014, the challenge will be to climb Africa's highest Mountain, Kilimanjaro for charity. Along with my good friend Phil Jones, we will be training hard over the forthcoming months, in preparation to conquer the highest free standing mountain in the world. I had considered the climb prior to cycling John O Groats to Lands End in 2011, but after a 3 year sabbaticle, the time is now right, and we are ready to push ourselves towards the level of fitness necessary in order to attempt such a fate.

We have opted to take the 7 day Lemosho route, the climb will inevitably be intensive, in altitude, with an exhaustive 12 - 14 hour trek on day 6, (summit day) to overcome. But hey, challenge right? So let's add 40C on the African plains to -4C on the mountain glazier, and unhealthy dose of acute mountain sickness threatening to disrupt our conquest. But God wiiling, our preparation will have paid off, and hopefully we will reach the 5896 metre (19'341 feet) summit In good shape.

This years chosen charity will be Rainbow's Hospice for Children and Young People. Rainbows are dedicated to meeting the needs of the chidren and young people who come to the hospice, with life-limiting and life threatening conditions. Its an incredible place that helps relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, support parents and siblings through their bereavement and care for children until their end. It costs over 4 million a year to keep the foundation going, and they receive very little government funding.

So with this in mind, and in order for us to achieve our respective targets, we need you to dig deep and help us raise a lot of money for a extremely important cause. All you need to do us click the "DONATE NOW" button, enter your card details and send some words of encouragement

I would like to make you aware that we are SELF FUNDING the trip (approximately £3000 for the trip, visas, inoculations etc), so any monies raised, will go directly to our charities

Thank you in advance for your kind and continued support.
