Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for your support along the Streets of London.

The weather forecast was for sun and so fitted out with cap & glasses it was to our relief that the clouds opened and the rain came down. With everyone egarly getting in position for a positive time the clock was counted down and the runners began to move forward to the startline. When the Mayor of Greenwich sounded the horn we were off some quicker than others and some more reserved.

I was making comfortable progress along the sometimes hilly roads upto the cutty sark and then on to Isle of Dogs, leading over London Bridge (sorry I missed you Michael & Julie). I was amazed at all the support with people lining the pavements 15/20 deep cheering everyone on there way.

So up to now I had made good time checking my watch every mile and was happy that I was am to mantain just under 10mins per mile coming up to the half way mark at the point we saw the crossover, oneside elite runners and the other was me.

I continued up to mile 16 and then unexpectedly I began to get a Migraine and those who have ever had one knows what I was feeling and I had no choice other than to stop and seek medical assistance (it's nothing to do with my knee) for 1.5 hours I was not able to do anything other than sit and wait till the Migraine passed, once it had I was off.

I left the makeshift medical hall and set off to fininsh what had started a few hours earlier, by this time there were only walkers on the route and amazinly people were still out there cheering everyone on. I think I must have received more cheers in that last stretch than in the whole of the race.

Those last few miles saw me walk a bit and run and when I reached Birdcage Walk it ment 800meters to the fininsh and so not to beleft walking I gathered pace and sprinted to the finish to collect my medal and to congratulate the other runners beside me.

My wish for next year in to begin training earlier, rasie more money & above all make sure that my Son (Jonathan) and wife (Jucelia) plus my mum & dad are all there to see me fininsh.

So please dig deep and keep donating now.

Colin
