14.10.10 - Gluttons for punishment
On October 17th 2010 we will be running the Amsterdam Marathon as a final push to reach the Diabetes UK fundraising target. As of today we still need to raise another £276.43 and it would be incredible if you can help us to exceed this target.
For all those of you who thought us running the London Marathon in April 2010 wasn't good enough to justify sponsoring us...!!...please make sure you sponsor us this time for the Amsterdam Marathon so that we can help Diabetes UK even more and so we can stop having to run marathons because the novelty has definitely worn off now!
26.9.10 Update: Back in preparation for the Amsterdam marathon on October 17th we ran the "Run to the Beat" half Marathon in London and had both forgotten how gruelling it is!
27.4.10 Update: London Marathon - we did it!!!
All 26.2 miles! The London marathon was an amazing memorable experience that we will never forget. There is nothing like hearing hundreds of people shouting your name and encouraging you to keep running and seeing so many runners in fancy dress! It was a great atmosphere and we’re glad we did it. Of course, it was gruelling and we’ve got some impressive blisters and chafing... We may not have finished the race if we didn’t know we had everyone’s support, so thank you to everyone who sponsored us! If you haven’t done already it is not too late to sponsor us! Perhaps you were waiting to see if we did it or you’ve just not got round to it yet?! Justgiving is very quick and easy to use. We want to raise as much money for Diabetes UK as possible so please help us to reach our target! Thank you so much for supporting us.

Thank you so much for visiting our JustGiving page. Yes the rumours are true! We are planning to run/walk/crawl the London marathon this April, 2010 and here you can follow our journey: the highs and lows as we train and fundraise for what we hope will be an incredible experience and achievement.
We are also hoping to do our ‘bit’ for charity by raising £3700 and we hope this is where you can help. Not only can you sit at home in the warm and dry and gloat when we are having to go for that ‘long run’ in the cold, wind and rain but in addition, you can also feel smug that you have helped a fabulous charity by donating some money - now! We have decided to do our best to raise loads of money for Diabetes UK, as it is a charity very close to our hearts. We’re sure you all know a friend, have a family member or even a patient with diabetes and know of the impact it can have on the lives of the diabetic and their loved ones. Diabetes should not be underestimated: in the UK, one person is diagnosed every three minutes and three people die from its complications every hour. This is where Diabetes UK comes in: any money you donate will help with their essential research and support for everyone affected by diabetes. Although Colin has previously completed the Bristol half marathon in a reasonable time (albeit, after his less than ideal pre-race preparation of a few ales the night before!), Monica has thus far had a more difficult training preparation as she had a car accident in May 2009. Happily, Monica is now back up on her feet and her knee is re-gaining strength. Certainly you can imagine that this is a big challenge for both of us - all 26.2 miles! So please keep checking this page for regular updates, keep supporting us and we can’t thank you enough for your generosity. Please help us to raise so much cash for Diabetes UK we won’t let our nerves get the better of us on the day! JustGiving is a quick, safe and easy way to donate money. Tell everyone you know about our challenge, ask them to make a pledge and don’t forget - there are two of us and so whatever amount you were planning to give - please give double!
