Hi All,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm cycling from John O Groats to Lands End to raise money for EACH. I hope to raise £1000 which is about £1 per mile.
UPDATE 31 May 2008
Well I did it. Over 13 days from 18 to 30 May I rode 960 miles from John O Groats to Lands End. My average speed was 13 mph and the total ride time was 72 hours and 49 minutes.
I travelled from north to south as there are more trains home from Penzance but it worked out fairly well for the weather. The first week was dry with a favourable wind as I rode south through Scotland. However, things changed over the bank holiday weekend.
On Bank Holiday Monday I spent 3 1/2 hours sat in a bus shelter waiting for the rain to stop and Wednesday 28th was wet all day. It got so bad I had to stop early and find a B&B (thanks Paula for doing my laundry). However, this left me with 95 miles to do on the penultimate day to make Lands End on the Friday. Fortunately the final two days were dry.
I arrived at Lands End at about 15.45 on Friday 30 May with a great sense of achievement. For all those out there looking for a challenge, give the End to End a try.
So if you've been waiting to make sure I actually completed the ride, now is the time to dig deep, sponsor me and help raise more money for EACH, a very worthy cause.
To those of you who have supported me so far, many thanks. I was updated as I went with the rising sponsorship and the news really helped. You kept me going when everything ached and I was wet through!
Cheers, Colin Browning
