Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
After a bit of a challenge by my Pupil-master, I decided to try and get a little fitter and maybe make some money for a couple of important charities.
My pupil-master said that if I could complete an Ironman Triathlon he'd buy me a bottle of whisky. Somewhat piqued by his inference my lardie frame would struggle to complete an Ironman, I booked myself onto the UK leg of the International Ironman 70.3 series on June 14th, 2009. The event consists of the following:
A 1.2mile swim in open water at Lake Wimbleball followed by
cycling 56 miles then just a small half-marathon
run of 13.1miles.
I chose one cancer charity and one AIDS/HIV charity. This is the site to sponser me for AIDS Ark the other site for Cancer Research is www.justgiving.com/colindales
I chose Cancer Research UK as its the biggest cancer research charity and cancer is probably the biggest fatal disease in western nations like ours. I chose an AIDS charity after witnessing the devastation that AIDS causes to families in Malawi and other African countries.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
It would be fantastic if you felt able to make a donation and give me just that little bit more motivation to complete the course within the time limits. Trust me with 70.3 miles to complete I need as much motivation as I can get!
