Story

My Story...

This story’s aim is to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer and to help raise vital funds for research into the cure and prevention of the most common cancer in men in the UK. I hope my story encourages you to act on any symptoms and get yourself checked early. Please donate as much as you can to this great cause.

In 2013 following a biopsy and MRI scan I was diagnosed with Stage 3 – Locally Advanced Prostate Cancer (T3b N1M0). Given I had no acute symptoms, I must say that this news came as a bit of a shock. From the outset I’ve have remained positive.

I am still having treatment and I visit my oncologist every 3 months.

This diagnosis gives you a different perspective on life. It is a perspective you wish you had 20 years earlier but obviously  under different circumstances. Seize the moment! Make everyday count!

I have linked each hill with each of the charities.

Long Lane – with a nod to Prostate Cancer UK and others

This hill is the longest of the three in my ‘3 Hills Challenge’, it’s starts off with a slight gradient and then there’s a 13% kick to get over and then it gradually rises and flattens out before the ‘T’ junction at the top. This hill can represent a lot of things that people face in life, whether it is a physical or mental illness, or indeed anything we are attempting or going through. Effort and determination are needed to get over the steep part, but it gets easier, however you need to keep pedalling! Of course, the support of others can help.
