We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.

Story

We have become a nation of Fundraisers and Charity Givers, which is great. Hardly a week goes by when you are not asked for support and donations. Now its my turn :-).

I would like the opportunity to raise some funds for the UK Charity the NSPCC.

As a father of three daughters i have the welfare of children very close to my heart as most normal parents and human beings do. However thousands of kids in THIS COUNTRY are not so fortunate, we give repeatedly  to other countries and charities, which i also support but it would be nice to help those at home too !!!

Please take a few moments to read about some of their work here www.nspcc.org.uk

SO to the challenge, I am aiming to raise £2000 to donate directly to the NSPCC.

I would ask for your support in either making a donation or in direct sponsorship.

For those of you who know me you will know that i have recently passed my motorcycle test, and now ride a bike, this has been a life long "must do" and it is giving me great pleasure, scouring the internet I came across the american website of the IRON BUTT ASSOCIATION, they specialise in long distance challenges. They also have a uk arm and i contacted them for some details of their challenges, to gain the exclusive membership the first ride has to be a 1000 mile challenge.

So we have the goal,  1000 miles on UK roads in less than a 24 hour period.

We have to do this "unsupported" and fully documented with fuel receipts and witnesses along the way, just to put this into perspective the common Lands End to John O Groats Challenge is about 847 Miles. I have become friends, electronically with a good fellow biker, Kevin who is going to join me on the ride and raise funds for his very special cause (www.justgiving.com/kevinweller) please help him if you can too !!

So what do i need from you??

Well I am looking for either a sponsorship of 2 pence per mile completed (or mutiples i.e. 8p per mile if you can afford it) or a one off donation. The ride will take place on the 15th and 16th of December, come rain, sun, snow, or anything apart from illness, our challenge is to come home safe and complete the job in hand.

Please give if you can, Oh and if you run a heated clothing empire and fancy some publicity please step forward!!!! :-)
