Thank you for visiting the donations page for The Columbus Run - my solo, unsupported Atlantic Row which will take me nearly 4,000 miles from Cadiz in Spain to Port of Spain in Trinidad.
I set out to do something for those who cannot help themselves, and in particular decided to focus on two Edinburgh charities whose work I admire. Put simply, I want to raise at least £100,000 for The Sportsman's Charity and The One City Trust. Money raised from my journey will assist each charity, respectively, to assist disabled sports projects in Scotland, and to assist small groups throughout Edinburgh who work to tackle social exclusion.
My voyage is also a personal challenge to cross an ocean using only the physical and mental strength afforded to me and to overcome the difficulties set by the ocean. My boat, the Atlantic Wholff, is a custom designed ocean going rowing boat 7.1 metres in length and 1.9 metres wide. I am currently rowing for between 12 and 18 hours per day and am consuming around 7000 calories to fuel the effort!
