Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

2007 is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the 'Foster Parents Plan for Children in Spain' to assist refugee and orphaned children during the Spanish Civil War, 1936-39. The organisation, now known simply as Plan, is still helping children in 45 countries throughout the developing world.

On April 21st and 22nd, a small but dedicated band of historical enthusiasts took to the hills to help raise money for Plan UK. We walked along the course of the River Severn between the towns of Bewdley and Bridgnorth in Shropshire, a distance of approximately 20 miles.

Just to make things interesting and a bit of a challenge, we did this using 1930's style clothing and equipment. We didn't use items of modern gear and only food available in the 1930's was eaten. Every team member was totally self sufficient and carried everything he needed. So it was goodbye to air cushioned footwear and hello to hob-nailed boots!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Plan UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

There's still time to make a donation, so please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
