Dorinda Wolfe Murray from Independent Gardening Ltd and Fi Boyle from Fi Boyle Garden Design have been working alongside the charity Combat Stress to create a garden specifically for those affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Combat Stress.   The garden is to be installed at Combat Stress' headquarters at Tyrwhitt House, hopefully in May/June 2011 once all the building work is completed.

Designed by Fi Boyle and co-ordinated by Dorinda Wolfe Murray, part of the garden has been exhibited at the  Hampton Court Palace Flower Show to huge press, tv and radio coverage.  The response of the public and the interest generated in it has been amazing.  After the show the garden is being transferred to the therapeutic centre at Tyrwhitt House in Leatherhead where it will be incorporated into the larger design.  This has all been due to the incredible generosity from our donors, suppliers, friends and the public. Mike Sugg from Cirencester Civil Engineering has donated the hard landscaping element of the garden, and other suppliers have added their bit: Mobilane for the ivy screens; Gaze Burvill for the furniture.  We are now raising money to assist with the gardens installation at Tyrwhitt House, so that it can 'do' what it is designed to do, namely create an healing space where the veterans can talk, relax, undergo rehabilitation and look out of the window onto a garden as opposed to a building site!   This project is high profile and immensely worthwhile, not only raising awareness among the general public of the vital role gardens play in rehabilitation support, but also providing a sustainable long-term therapeutic garden for some of the service men and women severely affected by PTSD and Combat Stress acquired when in active service. So if you know anyone who might be interested in donating please let them know about this page.  All the money that is donated on this page will go to this garden.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for your support. If you want more updated information on how the garden is progressing, please visit my blog at www.independentgardening.co.uk
