_{The Matt Watkins Memorial started due to the tragic death of Matt Watkins on Mount Snowdon in April 2006.  It was decided soon after the accident set up a charity to support the efforts of the people who work so hard to rescue mountaineers in trouble.  They are all unpaid volunteers who rely completely on outside donations.  We feel it is important to say thankyou for all their efforts on that day and so many other days to help stranded and injured mountaineers.}
