The reason behind my motivation to raise money for the Brain & Spine Foundation is my mum Brenda Cook who is known to many people in North Walsham. In 1998 my mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour, which was monitored for two years then in 2001 after many scans and counselling underwent surgery to remove the tumour. The operation was a success, but radiotherapy was needed for a few months. The operation was carried out at Addenbrooks Hospital.
Mum recovered well, with some bad days and good days. Unfortunately however in 2003 my mum was diagnosed with her second tumour. I myself cannot even begin to understand the physical and mental stress/pain she must be going through.
If you walked past my mum in the street you would not even notice she has undergone brain surgery and has the unpleasant factor of having to face it all again with this second tumour all in the last five years.
This year I plan to do my bit and run the London Marathon. Therefore I ask that you could donate to the charity in order to help other people like my mum in coming to terms with this disorder.
