Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Welcome to the South West Hiking Challenge. My name is Sam Watts and in April this year I will be attempting to hike the entire length of the South West Coast Path to raise money for CAFOD. Drawing inspiration from Catholic social teaching, CAFOD is committed to building a free world for those who are poor, marginalised and oppressed. CAFOD believes in the intrinsic dignity of each and every person regardless of race, gender, religion or politics and their right to the fundamentals of human life: food, clean water, shelter and security, health care, education and employment.

Last year CAFOD spent £15,950,000 in Africa alone, and with areas such as South America, Eastern Europe and India requiring similar levels of funding in order to reverse this trend of human beings dieing of hunger, thirst and preventable diseases, their need for funds becomes starkly obvious.

It is with this in mind that I am planning to walk the South West Coast Path, in its entirety, with the aim of raising £2000 for CAFOD.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Catholic Agency For Overseas Development will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Any support you can offer this fundraising effort would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your support.
