Dear Friends and Family, Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. No, this isn't a mistake – this is not Ebay and these boots are not up for auction! Perhaps one day they maybe, but for now they are doing excellent service helping me train for the biggest charity walk of my life. I walked, aged thirteen, on the very first charity walk for Oxfam. Thirty miles and two very sore feet later I reached the finishing line. I swore I’d never put myself through so much pain again, but here I am forty years later – but with more appropriate foot wear! I undertook to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care (CHC) in May last year. Three weeks later my good friend and design colleague was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and that made me even more determined. She spent her last few days in the peaceful and caring surroundings of Mount Edgcumbe. So this time I’m walking many, many more miles and at an altitude of up to 4,445 metres. So that is my target to achieve – a pound for every metre. This most marvellous hospice group is the least well funded in the country by central government due to the low average incomes in Cornwall. It costs 16p per second to run CHC. That’s £9.50 per minute and almost £5 million per year. If I raise £4,445, then with your help, I’ll have provided the running costs for almost 8 hours. That really puts things into context doesn’t it? Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cornwall Hospice Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So, please sponsor me now and if you are one of the people who might have considered a Chanukah, Christmas or birthday present for me – then please donate instead. Thank you so much for your support.
