Story

Starting on the 6th July, the three of us are going to trek the formidable GR20 trail, traversing the island of Corsica from north to south in around 15 days. At 180 kilometres long, and with a total height variation of more than 10,000 metres, it is considered to be the toughest trail of its kind in Europe.

Why are we doing this? Apart from obvious perks like sunburn, blisters and ample opportunity for spooning... We want to test ourselves mentally and physically, have a laugh, and make our trek truly worthwhile by raising money for a good cause.

"Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country." They help with the rehabilitation of injured soldiers, dealing with everything from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder to physiotherapy for amputees (click here to learn more about how they will spend your money).

We chose this charity because we believe it is important to recognise the sacrifices made every day by young men and women on the front line, regardless of whether we agree with the political reasons for war.

We also have personal connections to the military which have led us to support Help for Heroes. Many of you will know our friend Pete Cay, who has recently returned unscathed from his first operational tour with 3rd Battalion, The Rifles in Afghanistan, and Dush and I are both due to commence our officer training in September with the Royal Marines and the Army respectively.

Thanks to Dave's persuasive charm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) have kindly agreed to match the first £250 donated by all you generous people, so if you get in quick and donate just £10, they will give us another £10 - yet another incentive to help us reach our fundraising target of £1000! Every penny counts, so please dig deep and donate, however much or little you can afford.

Paul, Dush & Dave x
