So what is this malarkey?
A few months ago I joined a gym with new wife and was shocked to find my body fat hovering dangerously close to the 30% mark or damn near obese! Now, I have always been able to carry weight fairly well so it was quite a surprise.
I mentioned to the missus how much I wanted to lose a few stone and floated the idea of doing it for charity but we could not quite come up with a good enough target. Could it be pounds lost? or inches? Or perhaps weight lifted, maybe miles ran...
Yeh Yeh...what does this have to do with Cover Models?
I have always been an avid reader of Mens Health despite an actual gym aversion
and every year they run a competition to put a regular reader on the front cover. I put 2 and 2 together, made a ridiculous sum and wondered if such a feat could be achived by a mere mortal. Let's find out.Ah - I see. How will it work?
The competition closes in June 2009 and entries open in April so that basically gives me 12 months to get in shape and bang in an entry. Every day I will log into the blog I am writing located here on blogger and upload a photo of myself holding a newspaper and each week I will record a full set of measurements.
The premise is simple, if you think i am making progress you drop a few pennies in the jar for the kids and Mrs Feeney has one less wobbly bit on her husband - everyone is a winner.
Speaking of winners, what do you get out of it?
Apart from the motivation and increased fitness, absolutely nothing. if by some MAHOOSIVE miracle I end up anywhere NEAR the winners circle I promise to donate all funds to charity.
On the flip side - if I am not making progress or you cant see where your money is going then feel free to send me abusive emails to get myself in shape.
Ok - I am in fatty. Anything else I need to know?
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: NSPCC will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So join in now - sponsor, donate, laugh, cajole, banter, suggest, critique, advise it's up to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
