Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi, it`s been three years since my wife Irene lost a year long battle with lung cancer. It all happend so quickly from her original diagnosis and quite unbelievable her being a non smoker. However, she was so inspiring through that year carrying on with an unstopable love of life and affection for her freinds and family. Irene was a very professional and commited young lecturer who was held in high regard by both her students and colleagues alike, all round she was a hard act to follow and yes we all miss the way she touched each and every one of us.
Now this "just go for it" role model was determined that life must go on when she wouldn`t be around to "orchestrate" things so here I am getting on with doing what I can for cancer charities, normally with the ANOTHER WAY AROUND motor cycle club. In 2008 we rode round the UK in five days and 2009 saw us take in twelve (more like twenty two)countries to the Alps and back in eight days. We raised about £25k and it went to Cancer Research, CHAS and Unicef.
This year I wanted to do something which would be specific to MACMILLAN cancer support, solely because they gave Irene so much support during her last year, honestly words can`t provide the expression of thanks. Oh yeah, it was a two way thing the nurses got so much from Irene too, mainly in the form of lots of laughter and head shaking disbeliefe.
So I`m of to ride a motorcycle through the Himalaya. About 2000 or so kilometers over 12 to 14 days this is an endurance event so not a lot of tarmac and a significant challenge in a constantly changing environment. I`m self funding this trip, so any money that I do raise will go straight to those amazing people at MACMILLAN.
So please dig deep and donate what you can. Thanks again for taking the time to read this page. Cheers Craig
