My story

Thanks for visiting our King's College Hospital fundraising page.

Craig (13), had acute liver failure one year ago. He received a liver transplant one week after being put on top of the waiting list. He has made a full and remarkable recovery.

In addition to fundraising, we would like to raise the awareness and the importance of organ donation (www.uktransplant.org.uk) and would ask all our readers to consider carrying a donor card. We will forever be grateful to Craig's donor and their family. As Craig stated in a recent English essay :

"I think that the donor must have been caring and kind, as they have given me a gift that cannot be bought. As they say at Mastercard, an Ipod £100, a car £20,000 a second chance at life PRICELESS!  I feel I have one."

We have various fundraising activities in the pipeline.

1) Sheila Wright, a family friend ran the London Marathon on 26/4/09. Sheila completed this in 4 hours 15 minutes. Well done Sheila, a fantastic effort. We will let you know what was raised once all the money has been collected.

2) We held a Coffee Morning in Ballantrae Village Hall on 2/5/09 from 10am till 12 noon. This proved to be a great success. The entrance, baking stall, raffle,Car Wash, string game, trolley keyrings, Guess how long Bobby's bike ride will take and donations gave us a total of £1818.48. This will be split between The Starfish Appeal & Ronald McDonald Charity. Thanks to all who supported this.

3)The Paxtons & The MacIntyres organised a New Tattie Night at Wigtownshire Rugby Club on Friday 22nd May. This was a HUGE success, raising almost £7000. Thanks to all who supported this.

4)Bobby (Craig's dad) is cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End at the beginning of July 09.  We intend posting a blog each day to keep friends & family up to date.  The blog can be found at

 http://bobbysbikerun.blogspot.com/

5) Colmonell Gun Club are running a Clay Pigeon Shoot in September.  This raised £1000 for the appeal.  Great! Thanks to all who supported this.

6) Bobby and Craig were invited along to Ayr Rugby Club on Saturday 11th September.  Craig's Uncle Doug got Ayr 1st XV to include the organ donation logo on the sleeve of their strip to help encourage people to "sign up."  A bucket collection at Millbrae raised £750.  Thanks to Jim Lymburn and his  Under 13s team for organising this.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor Craig: King’s College Hospital Charity gets your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you again.
