Pathways Interfaith Walk Supporting Salusbury World and St John's Wood Adventure Playground · 10 July 2011 ·

The Adventure Playground offers inclusive play and play care programmes that support children’s individual and social development. We provide each with a foundation for their self and communal fulfilment.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Together, we can transform the lives of children who have come to this country as refugees. We are raising funds for the holiday play project which brings children from the Salusbury WORLD Refugee Centre to the St John’s Wood Adventure Playground for play, activities, outings and some fun. We will be walking to 10 different faith centres (mosques, churches and synagogues) to raise awareness about interfaith dialogue and to raise funds for the 2 featured charities. The total walk is 8.5km

Salusbury WORLD* is a charity that supports refugee and asylum seeking children and families. Established in 1999, it was the first refugee centre to be set up within a primary school. They offer educational, social and emotional support for refugee children, and assistance to parents and the wider refugee community through home/school liaison, family workshops and outings. They also provide a comprehensive social advice service. They work to increase language ability and curriculum access as well as self-esteem and confidence.

The Playground offers a year-round programme of arts, crafts, sports and games. During the school holidays we organise off-site educational and recreational trips. It was established in 1957, making it London’s oldest adventure playground, and has traditional outdoor adventure play structures, a mini basketball court and digging area. The play-building has an art, games and pool room. The Playground currently has over 280 members, aged from 5 to 11 years.

Pathways is the neighbourhood clergy’s interfaith forum. Its members include the faith leaders of four synagogues, four churches, the London Central Mosque and the Marylebone Bangladesh Society. Pathways members meet five or six times a year for interfaith dialogue and to organise activities. The Pathways Roadshow takes clergy from each faith into schools to meet staff and pupils, answer their questions and demonstrate interfaith co-operation and harmony.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
