Sunday, race day, came and after some poor co-driving (by myself) we eventually got there with minutes to spare. After a quick comfort break we ended up in the post 60 minute zone, not ideal. 15 minutes after the gun went, we were off running and I started my weaving through the thousands of people. At the 5km mark I felt surprisingly good and had put in a PB for 5K - just over 25 minutes! The next 5 took its toll, with less weaving and slower pace, I was ready for the last km, only there was 3 more to go!!! After willing the 8k to show its head it I set up for the last 1000m. Going all out I pushed for the first 500m of it, I was spent, a few shouts from family and friends I pushed on and managed to get home in 52 minutes 15 seconds! Well above the seemingly ambitious 55 min barrier I had set myself. Thanks for all the donations, I am currently at £508 - with a few more to possibly add to the funds, that's not including gift aid either! Excellent I made over £500 and with works £4£ scheme that's over £1000 raised for the British Heart Foundation. Thanks again.

So, first 10k run on Sunday as a tester. Was 9.99k on watch, 59.02. Next one run two days later, 57:27! Think the new target is sub 55!

Since August I have started training for no other reason than to get fit(ter) than I was. In doing this I have found a new hobby - running, mainly due the gadgets I get to buy/wear. Now I am somewhat fitter than I was, I have entered my first 10k next month, the Leeds Abbey Dash. Some stats so far since August I have: Run: 189km Cycled: 166km Rowed: 127km Used 26732 calories Lost 6kg (or since beginning of year 15kg!)
This is my first run / event and hopefully will not be my last. I want to use this opportunity to give to a charity that means something to me. As a challenge, I am looking to do this run in less than 60 minutes. So far, I think I am on track!
Please donate if you can and thanks for visiting.
