Story
The Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race (DW) is a 4-day 125 mile marathon. This race is a severe test of stamina and skill. The DW this year starts on 2nd April and ends on the 5th April at Westminster Bridge, opposite the Houses of Parliament.
The training necessary to undertake such an event is extensive and will become a centre point to our Lent term. However, the training and stamina is not the only outcome of the DW. Instead, having started this process as 20 individuals, we are hoping to complete the DW as a team, with an amazing collection of memories, and a fabulous sense of achievement!
The 2010 Team is:
George Blurton, James Bowey, Luke Butler, Tom Collier, Sam Durant, Lucy Gilligan Court, Torsie Haugli, Gus Ide, Liv Lyster, Olivia McConnell-Wood, Callum Preece, Arabella Roberts, Seb Sharpe, Ellie Shaw, Emily Subba Row, Sam Thomson, Rory Townsend, Katie Wallis, Dom West, Freddie Wilson.
This year the Cranleigh School 2010 Team want to raise money for the very good cause: Oasis Childcare Centre.
This project aims to work with vulnerable children and their families in and around the local area. The project believes that every child has a right to security, love and a stable environment, in which they can develop to their full potential. Following its formation in 1996 the Oasis Centre now provides a Family Centre accessible to children, their families and carers. The project also provides a Family Support Service and an "emergency" crisis intervention service.
