Story

Wednesday 30 June Update:

Well, we are now just a few days away from the big event. The mountain weather forecasts look awful and we've just realised how challenging Ben Nevis actually looks, so all is well.....(gulp!)

Thank you all so, so much for your donations. Combining the online and offline amounts with the money we'll receive from our online auction, we should just reach our £5,000 total, which is fantastic news.

We are leaving for Glasgow on Friday morning and staying there overnight. On Saturday we travel to Glen Nevis and begin our challenge at 16.00. We've all put in so much effort to raise this total and also with our training. Let's hope everyone's legs keep on going for the full 24 hours!

That's all for now. We'll update the page when we return to normality next week with some photos (yes, I know some of you will be wanting proof!) and to tell you what it was like.

Thanks once again!

Ian, Paul, Nick, Mike, David, Sue and Caroline

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On 3 and 4 July 2010, we will be attempting to complete the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the National Deaf Children's Soceity (NDCS). In case you are unaware, the challenge involves hiking the 3 highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) in a period of 24 hours.

So, here's the team:

Ian - eldest of the group. We're hoping that he'll at least make it to Snowdon before we have to start carrying him.

Paul - took 4 days to recover from 70mins of football - lots of training required.

Mike - broke his rowing machine in training - we are in awe of his power. Don't ask him for a hug - he'll unintentionally squeeze your lungs out through your nose.

Nick - probably the fittest of the group. Most frequent gym-goer (I think?!) and front runner in our previous expeditions

David - serial Snowdon accomplisher - may well not even break a sweat

Sue - the unenviable task of driving 5 sweaty and tired men around for 24 hours! This is likely to include 5/6 hours of driving from Scotland to the Lake District and then another 4/5 hours from Lake District to Snowdonia in Wales. Not to mention the waiting around while we (attempt) to get up and down the peaks...

Ian has previously taken part in a fundraising event for the NDCS, trekking the Great Wall of China. He instigated this new fundraising event and we were all eager to join in.

The NDCS is a great cause and I'm sure they will be immensely appreciative of any amount you are able to donate. As much as we all realise there will be a considerable amount of time and effort in training for the 3 Peaks, we are all really looking forward to the challenge and hoping to raise a sizeable amount for this charity.

Your donations are very, very much appreciated.
