Blenheim Triathlon 2013 · 8 June 2013 to 9 June 2013 ·

When the sun goes down the working day ends for millions of people without electricity. At the flick of a switch, lives can be instantly changed with a solar light. SolarAid wants to make real, sustainable change happen.

Story

In 2012 SolarAid, the charity I work for, set a scary goal to eradicate the kerosene lamp from Africa by 2020.

So I set a scary goal too and entered my did my first triathlon in 2013 starting with a 750 m open water swim even though I could hardly swim a length!

Two years on and SolarAid is still set on its goal and I am still doing triathlons. Every one I do reminds me that having a goal helps us achieve things we didn't think possible.

For every £3 SolarAid receives it sells a solar light at a fair market price in rural parts of Africa so families no longer have to use toxic kerosene lamps. Genius.

Inspire me (and SolarAid) to continue to 2020. Thanks
