Why am I supporting Nowzad Dogs?

 

For those of you that know us, you will know that we adore dogs of all kinds and have Labradors at home.

Yes Labradors! we had three in total one black (Freddy) and two Choccy ones (Fudge and Merlin). 

Notice I say had,

Unfortunately Fred left us this year, he had gotten so old that we felt it was time for him to rest. His quality of life had reduced so much that even though we still loved him it was time for us to let him go.

This year I will be running for Fred as I know that he will be with me all the way round!

Being Dog lovers, it was only natural that we read Pens book, "ONE DOG AT A TIME" whilst on holiday one year. 

The work Pen and team are doing is absolutely brilliant and the charity that he has set up needs all the support that it can get. As I have written earlier, Dogs are like people and need the same things, they don't need to be forced in to fighting each other for the amusement of others. You only have to read Pen's book to realise that dogs crave attention and that when given the right direction any dog can become domesticated and bring joy to those who take them into their homes.

For these reasons I decided to take part in the Great South Run in 2009 and run for NOWZAD DOGS.  I had intended on running in 2010 but had rather nasty accident and again in 2011 but could not do so due to the same accident. I am back again for the 2012 race and this time my knees have given out!! maybe someone is trying to tell me something?
