A bit of background....

Over the last 18 Months on 2 separate occasions, Simon and Nicola Collins have had premature babies cared for at the Special Care Baby Unit at the Calderdale Royal Hospital, Alex (born at 29 weeks) and Lewis (born at 32 weeks) .  On each occasion the support and care provided by the unit has been outstanding and as such Simon and Nicola feel they owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone associated with the unit.

Having given so much to Simon and his family, he and his colleagues at Royal&SunAlliance wanted to give something back and have therefore decided to cycle from Morecambe to Whitby in a Coast to Coast charity cycle challenge, a distance of 160 miles over two days on 3rd and 4th April to raise money for the unit.

Our Charity Partner for the challenge is the Community Foundation for Calderdale who have kindly agreed to act as our Intermediary on this site and collect the money on behalf of the Special Care Baby Unit, as they were unfortunately unable to do this directly.  In return 10% of all our donations will be kept by the Community Foundation for Calderdale to use as they wish for the benefit of other local charities in the community.  The remaining 90% will be presented to the Calderdale Special Care Baby Unit at the Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Community foundation for Calderdale will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
