Story
From the 5-9th October 2016 I am taking on The Frontline Walk - an epic 100km trek across the battle fields of Northern France and Belgium.
I know it's going to be tough but I'm doing this to raise money for a very important cause. All of the money raised is going to ABF The Soldiers' Charity. The Soldiers’ Charity give lifetime support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families. They provide financial assistance to those in real need. That’s what they been here to offer for 70 years.
I am doing this for two reasons!
Firstly, during this year I celebrate my 40th Birthday and wanted to do something special to mark the occasion. Jo, my wife, ran the Virgin Money London Marathon last year for ABF The Soldier's Charity, but I have no desire to run anywhere!! Walking 100km appeared to be a much easier option!!
Secondly, I have been privileged to be part of a production called 'Brothers in Arms'. It's a multimedia production telling the story of the First World War through the eyes of the Chavasse twins.
Before our first presentation we were visited by BBC North West Tonight! You can see the report by using the following link in your browser: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-30129782
'Brothers in Arms' uses a combination of music, drama, film, images and readings, in order to tell the story of the twins, Noel (a medic) and Christopher (a chaplain), who were highly decorated soldiers who served with great distinction during WW1.
Their lives tell a moving and inspiring story of courage, service, sacrifice and faith lived out under fire. It is because of having discovered their story that I have chosen this activity so that I might honour their memory.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and encouragement! Thank you. A million times, thank you.
