TARGET NOW REACHED – THANKS TO EVERYONE !!
St Paul's Church, Heaton Moor wishes to thank all who so generously contributed to our CrossRoads Appeal to restore the Church Tower.
Last autumn, St Paul's needed to raise £51,500
before April 2014 in order to be assured of funding from English Heritage.
Many thought we would not succeed. We also had doubts.
We were reliant on the goodwill
and generosity of our supporters.
But we were not sure who exactly they were and how much they could
give......Christmas was approaching and the recession not yet over.
But the response from the community of Heaton Moor and beyond has been
simply amazing!
Not only have we achieved our target of £51,500, we have also forged new links
with so many people in the Heatons.
To all of you.......to traders,
community groups, businesses, families and individuals, a heartfelt thank you
for your confidence in the future of the Church of St Paul on Heaton Moor Road.
Your generosity has been overwhelming. Many people told us that St Paul's had
been an important presence at some point in their lives. They wanted to be sure
that the church would continue to be there for others. Support came from so
many surprising corners and places, including donations from Heatonians
resident overseas.
Thanks to every single one of you, we are arranging with English Heritage for the required restoration work to start in June 2014. We anticipate that this will take some 4 months and we shall do our very best to keep disruption to the minimum.
And as for the future, our work is only just
beginning. . . .
You have reached out to support us and now we shall, in kind, respond to the
spirited community of Heaton Moor.
May the presence of St Paul's Church continue to grow ........and may there be more surprises to come !
