Story
The Beast from the East and Storm Emma have fallen on our annual show week and could possibly mean an end to the society in our 60th anniversary year!
The cast of BMTC have been rehearsing for Disco Inferno the Musical 3 days a week since September, many amongst them teachers and NHS
staff also working full-time. So much time, energy and hard work has gone in to making this amazing show and the 30 lovely people who braved the cold to watch our opening night on Wednesday, danced and sang along throughout and left great reviews!!! But with a capacity of over 300 in the theatre, the performance cost us dearly in finances!
We were forced to cancel Thursday’s performance and will loose thousands in ticket revenue, programme sales and raffles! It’s not looking good for tonight (Friday 2nd) either so we are pinning our hopes on being able to perform our final show as planned on Saturday night with a possibility of adding a matinee show on Saturday afternoon.
People often don’t realise a show can cost an amateur society upwards of £10,000 to produce when you’ve paid for the performance rights, theatre hire, set, costumes, band, lighting and sound etc. Society members pay lots of money themselves through membership fees and weekly raffles, all for the love of performing and bringing affordable theatre to the local community. Our cast are devastated at not being able to perform all 4 planned shows, and at the prospect of not performing with BMTC again if the society can’t recoup some of its losses!
There are 3 ways we are asking people to help us do that. Firstly, they can transfer pre-booked or prepaid tickets from a missed performance to Saturday rather than requesting a refund. If they can’t make Saturday or if the weather beats us again, they could transfer the ticket to a future concert performance we intend to do to fundraise. Another great help would be if people who hadn’t booked a ticket can come on Saturday and give us the full audience we so deserve!! Finally, if people could find it in their heart to support this local long standing group to keep doing what they love, we would really appreciate a small donation here #saveBMTC #supportlocaltheatre

7 years agoWow!! Over 50%! Thanks so much, I can’t say it enough! Between you guys, all the lovely people who have gifted us their ticket money or allowed their ticket to carry over to (hopefully with your generosity) attend our restaging of the show, and to all the people we owe money to for the production who have offered a reduced fee to us..... you are all fab and making us more hopeful we will rise from the ashes (or snow as the case may be!) Please keep supporting BMTC , we are so so grateful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
