Here in Sal, Cape Verde, the wonderful Abbie has come up with an excellent project surrounding sustainability, education and conservation. The idea is to work with charities across the isalnd of Sal to create a large scale muriel of a logger head turtle using rubbish that has been collected from the beaches of Sal. Working alongside childrens schools such as Castellos de Sal, whom give a place for local children to learn, explore and develop in a safe environment. Project Biodiversity, an organisation that is commited to the ecological conservation on Sal, whilst one of the many aspects of their work is working to secure the safe and productive breeding and tracking of Logger Head turtles, a nearly endangerd species And finally local business on the island from hotels to TUI the people we all work for.

The idea is to train ourselves, we have already started, and run 10k in order to raise funds to help us make the actual murial itself and fund the various beach cleans that we will do in order to not only make the beaches a safer place for the turtles to make their nests but also to reuse this rubbish in a community led endevour to involve as many of the local people we can in order to educate not only the local people of our lovable sand box but also the tourists that come to share it‘s natural beauty and incredible marine life. The idea is to display this at some of our biggest hotel partners resorts and around the local town of Santa Maria!
