Adel was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer in October. Due to other complications, and existing chronic conditions, surgery has been ruled out. Essentially this means the NHS offered radiotherapy can cause more damage than good.

Time is running out since Adel's diagnosis six months ago now. Adel is requesting funding for proton-beam therapy. It is more precise, will take fewer sessions than traditional radiotherapy, ‎and cause considerably less damage.

There is only one centre in UK; Newport in Wales which opened last year. There is also a centre in Prague. Proton-beam therapy is not available on the NHS and Vitality (Adel's insurer).

Adel has been working ten years past the retirement age and is unable to raise funds for this treatment.
