    Story

To commemorate the first anniversary of the death of our much-loved and missed colleague Karryna, the Altair team is embarking on a series of fund-raising initiatives and personal challenges over the coming year in order to raise money for Jersey Hospice and Jersey Friends of Oncology.

Karryna was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in February 2018, just weeks after returning from our company ski trip in which she participated with characteristic energy and enthusiasm. Despite the severity of the diagnosis and being given less than a year to live, her courage, humour and determination in battling the illness was extraordinary and she never gave up fighting right to the end. To honour her memory and indomitable spirit, we will be undertaking a series of personal challenges and fund-raising events to raise money for two charities that provide vital support and care to cancer patients and their families in Jersey.

This page will be updated as and when challenges are completed (please see below), or new challenges are announced. All donations are very gratefully received.

Our colleagues at Altair Guernsey are raising money for Les Bourgs Hospice in memory of Karryna.

Congratulations to Ian Lambert who completed his epic Jersey Hospice Care 5 day cycle challenge in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The journey included steep mountain climbs and desert-like conditions. An amazing achievement!

Ian Lambert's personal challenge is to join the Jersey Hospice Care 5 day Cycle Challenge in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco in October. This will involve fairly daunting steep mountain climbs (over 2,000m some days) in desert-like conditions and awe-inspiring scenery, which will challenge me way beyond my usual 20 minute ride to work in the morning. Further details of the challenge can be found here at www.jerseyhospicecare.com/event/jersey-hospice-care-2019-challenge-morocco-road-cycle
