In April 2019 I will be taking part in an amazing opportunity to go to Tanzania and volunteer in the A+E of Muhimbili National Hospital. It will contribute 50 placement hours to my course and will help me to become a paramedic. As my family and friends know it has been a dream of mine since I can remember to become a paramedic and I am doing everything possible to make it happen. I am getting the opportunity to volunteer in resuscitation, majors and minors treatment rooms under the doctors and nurses of the hospital. I also get a chance to work on the paediatric ward which will be helpful as paramedics go to people of all ages.

I will be volunteering in the hospital 150 hours throughout the three weeks I am there for, It is an experience that will change my outlook on life. I will get the chance to see life outside the NHS and I will get to experience a way of helping patients with little resources.

Unfortunately the trip isn't funded by the university and I am having to find different ways to in which to fund £3,000. This includes accommodation, flights, food, uniforms, personal protective equipment whilst in the hospital, insurance, indemnity cover and transport to and from the hospital.

I will be giving up alcohol for 40 days and nights for lent, any money I would spend on alcohol or going out I will put aside and donate to myself. So, if you fancy buying me a drink the money instead would be gratefully appreciated.
