Books2Africa is a UK Registered Charity (1152599) that is committed to reducing environmental waste in the UK and improving the quality of education in Africa through the collection and distribution of books. Books2Africa has so far donated nearly 1 million books to different projects in over 20 African countries. For the past few months we have been volunteering for Books2Africa in Canterbury, helping with sorting and scanning of books and helping with the loading of containers of books to projects in Africa.

We are going on a Books2Africa outreach project where we will travel to Ghana to volunteer with the B2A Ghana office for a few days in Accra and the remaining days will be spent visiting schools in Vodza, Keta. The project will leave a legacy, by setting up a library with books and other educational materials for Vodza Basic School. This school is located in a rurl region of Ghana and consists of 2 reception classes, a primary and a secondary class, with students’ ages ranging from 3 – 15 years. This school was recently rebuilt because it was previously damaged by water erosion which is sometimes common in the region but unfortunately do not have a library.

Some of the costs of the project such as the shipment and clearing of books and educational toys to Ghana will be sponsored by Books2Africa, but we are looking for some additional funds to help us travel to Ghana and implement this project and also get to work with Books2Africa Team in Ghana and share some learning experiences with the students and teachers at Vodza Basic school.
