    Story

St Nicolas church is over 900 years old and has been at the heart of the community of Portslade for all that time.

As a Grade 2 listed building, time has taken its toll on the building, so much so that the building may need to close because of health and safety implications due to the electrics being in a bad way. We have had, for a number of years now, had a development project outlined which would make the church more accessible and suitable for use for a variety of services and community events, as well as focusing on the history of this magnificent building - a building of huge importance for the community.

Obviously everything has a price tag, and the development project is no different. Some of the work is urgent and will prevent the buildings closure, but every penny will help towards maintaining and protecting this church and its place in the community and heritage in the City of Brighton & Hove
