    Story

After three years of swimming multiple 1 mile open water races, this year I am doing one BIG 2 MILE SWIM (3.2km, or 128 lengths of a 25m pool) at the 2018 Swim Serpentine on 22 September.

I am swimming to raise money supporting the fight against brain cancer, something that has had a particular impact on my family recently. All funds raised will go to the Sunnybrook Hospital Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research.

Thank you for the support in my 2 mile swim for the Sunnybrook Gord Downie Brain Cancer Research fund! The healing torn rotator cuff held... in fact it held for 4km due to going slightly off-course 🙄. Still pleased with pace, however. Special thanks to Liz for the photos and enduring the rain and 12 degree weather to see me to the end. Wanting to get back before the crummy weather triggered an early labour motivated me to speed up over the last kilometre!

Four days to go. With thanks to my physio at St Mary’s University, I’m back to hitting longer distances (did a mile last night). Although I may not achieve the sub 60 minutes I was aiming for, I think my shoulder has healed enough to allow me to finish the 2 mile swim. Now just keeping an eye on the water temperatures. I'll need to swim in my arm-less wetsuit to accommodate my shoulder.... but as my Mom would say: "Andrew, you're Canadian. Get over the cold" :-)

Good luck, me and the bump will be there to cheer you on! Not too much excitement though please, I'd rather not give birth in Hyde Park.
