Hi my names Archie and I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime through the Camps International volunteering scheme. I've given myself the challenge to raise the full amount of £4500 to fund the experience and give a little back to the world.

First a little more about me. I am 15 years old and I am working towards my GCSEs at Fowey River Academy. I am also a rugby fanatic, a true Cornishmen ay! I play for the school team for both mine and the year above me, my local team ( Lankelly Fowey and Saltash RFC U15s) and for Cornwall working towards academy level.

In the world we live in there are many challenges and disadvantages we all face and have to overcome. However for some communities, like Camps International and I shall be helping, those challenges are amplified hugely. They have little money, resources, education and just need a helping hand. That's why when I was presented with this opportunity I wanted to pursue it so strongly. I also feel that an experience like this one would change me for better.

So what shall I be doing? Over the four weeks on exotic soil I shall be giving a helping hand with a few projects targeted to help the local communities, environment and conservation. These projects are key to the success of these communities and without them there may not be much to go give a helping hand to in the future.

The projects:

Community- every community has disadvantages yet some have a little more help with them challenges than others. The communities I shall be helping need that little bit of help, that extra bit of man power. Projects such as building school classrooms, community centres etc. are what are necessary for them to thrive. Just a simple thing like that can give them that leg up they need. Also education out there is a massive problem. Generations of children just like you or I do not receive an education because of in ability to access school. For example last year a bridge was built across a traitorous river to turn a near impossible and dangerous school run into a safe way to access education. This is vital for these communities to be able to thrive in the long run and also learn vital skills and knowledge to carry with them throughout their lives.

Conservation- the orangutan. Cute, adorable, loved, endangered. Due to the ever increasing need for wood, food, oil, logging on an industrial scale has destroyed these loved animals homes. Key conservation work for the orangutan is being carried out in Borneo. Without such there would not be many orangutans around to adore. That's why I feel , as a causer to all this, the least I can do is give them a helping hand; give them a fighting chance. Simple conservation work saves hundreds of orangutans lives and I don't about you but I don't want these cute creatures to go anywhere.

Environment- in a planet of global warming, destruction of forests, the boiling of seas ,the rainforests are in trouble. Even though there is work being carried out it's only preventing not fixing. The least we can do is play are part in helping the rainforests. They are home to plant-life, wildlife, communities; they are ecosystems essential to life itself. I shall be participating in vital projects to help get the rainforests out there back on their feet. Simple projects such as planting tress are so effective and necessary it's unbelievable. Lets all do our part and just give a little help!

So there you have it. With all of your help I can fulfil this opportunity of a lifetime, help not only the communities out there but the world. I have a chance to make a difference and with a little help from you I can go do something good with my life.
