I was approached by some young adults asking if there was any chance of developing an Art Class for the likes of themselves who are disadvantaged some of whom have Special Needs. They said there is little opportunity to access classes in the Ribble Valley that would meet their needs and be affordable. I feel strongly that Art should be accessible for everyone. It is so important not only for giving pleasure but also for developing confidence and self-esteem.

My skill is being able to meet the needs of all abilities and helping students to gain confidence not only in their own creativity but also in themselves as individuals. This will give students opportunities to communicate feelings and thoughts and help them build confidence and competence.

I applied for an Arts development grant to help set up a couse of Art classes and was lucky enough to be awarded a grant that I now have to fund match. I have had a lot of support through The Rotary Club, private individuals and a local charity called Ribble Valley Gateway trust. To meet my target I plan to cycle The Forest of Bowland over 2 days in September with some friends and family. I would really appreciate any sponsors and support for my project. It could be the beginning of something amazing.
