Story
Dylan is a happy, friendly and active 9 year old with a genetic condition called NF1.
It affects him in a number of ways, including causing him problems with mobility.
He can walk, but usually only short distances before becoming fatigued; most of the time he uses a buggy. He cannot ride a bike because he cannot physically push the pedals round.
He also has autism, linked to his NF1. This means that in addition to his physical difficulties he also suffers from severe anxieties that mean that he is scared to ride an ordinary bike because he feels unsafe.
He needs an adapted tricycle with special gearing to make it easier to pedal, foot plates to help him get the pedals all the way round and a parent control handle so that we can help push when he's tired and brake when needed! He also needs a seatbelt and a supportive back to the saddle to give him the confidence to ride.
At the moment, if we want to go for a walk we always have to take his buggy and push him. A bike of his own would give him the opportunity to be active and a bit more independent.
We have been fortunate enough to have been given a grant from Cauldwell Children that covers 2/3 of the cost; but we still need to raise £400.
We will be undertaking a sponsored "push" from Millers Dale to Bakewell and back (about 16 miles) in order to hopefully raise some of the funds.
If we are lucky enough to pass our target, all other money will be donated to Cauldwell Children.

6 years agoOn Friday next week, we'll be walking around 16 miles along the Monsall Way, too and from Bakewell from Miller's Dale. Dylan will be with us in his buggy, well supplied with drinks, snacks and toys to keep him occupied! Wish us good weather please, and say hiya if you see us! All donations gratefully received !

6 years agoThe raffle has now been drawn, and the winners were; 1st.... Hannah Roberts, 2nd....Lucy Evans, 3rd.... Jackie Broughton. If the winners could contact me, I'll sort out the prizes. Many thanks to everyone who took part in the raffle or has otherwise donated. We are enormously grateful to you all. We still have a long way to go; our next "event" will be the sponsored "push", and, for those of you who are local to us, I think we will also be having a cake sale in the near future!

6 years agoThanks so much to all of you! We're already up to £45 after just a couple of days! I've discovered that Just Giving won't let me see your emails addresses (because we are not a charity) so could I ask that you check this page for the winning names after the raffle is drawn? I will also post the winners on the Bolly rocks site. To those lovely people who have donated anonymously, I'm really grateful, if you would like to be included in the raffle, please message me.
