St. Breward & District Community First Responders Trust is desperately seeking a replacement vehicle to carry out their essential work.

15 years ago Kevin Foster fought hard to set up the very first First Responder Trust for Cornwall covering St. Breward and District using his personal Volvo V40 as a reliable means of transport for urgent call-outs on behalf of South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust which involves suitably trained volunteers responding rapidly to acute emergencies in the local area at all times of day or night.

He heard of such scheme in Devon and realised that something similar in Cornwall could make a huge difference to people’s lives when someone has a serious medical problem in remote locations. And they have made a difference being there for people in their time of need.

They are still using that same Volvo at Kevin’s own expense. But it's time will come to an end in May due to the change in MOT requirements for the engine electronic system which would be uneconomical to upgrade on a vehicle of the Volvo’s age and a more modern and excellently equipped replacement vehicle similar to that pictured can only make things better and safer for all.

The SBDFR volunteers are now also carrying more specialised equipment whilst being trained to do additional tests so that they are able to react to every situation. It would be a very sad day indeed if Kevin and his team of volunteers had to stop the vital and valuable work they do and someone might lose their life because of it which they desperately want to avoid..

Should this appeal succeed and should there be money left after the purchase it is hoped that, by donating, you agree that should any surplus becomes available this is kept by the Trust to be used for running costs, maintenance, VED etc. which, up till now, Kevin has funded out of his own pocket.
