    Story

Hi, thanks for visiting our fund raising page.

Ben and Tom Birchall and Mike and Stu Lowe are taking on a number of sporting challenges in 2019 to raise money for Noah's Star.

    Between us we will be:

Running the London Marathon in April (Stu)

Cycling 300km around London over 2 days in May 2019 (All)

Running The Great North Run in September (Mike and Stu)

Cycling 120km around south Staffordshire in September (Tom and Ben)

Having had personal experience of life with a little one in hospital for prolonged periods whist also keeping a 4 year old and a 2 year old upbeat and happy, Ben has been inspired by the work being done by Noah's Star. Having introduced the charity to Tom, Mike and Stu, we decided we could do something to help raise awareness and money for this fabulous cause.

We are on a mission to support families who have children in neonatal care due to premature birth or health conditions. The NHS does a fabulous job of looking after these babies but it does not have the resources to provide the full support required by the parents and siblings of these babies.

One in nine babies in the UK are admitted to the Neonatal Unit each year. The admission of a baby to the Neonatal Unit is a stressful time for the family. The stress is heightened for families, as most UK Neonatal Units do not provide organised sibling support.

Noah's Star was created by Jo-Anne Shellum based on her own personal experience. In July 2015 her twin boys, Oscar and Noah were born at 25 weeks. Sadly, Noah only lived for 30 hours. Due to his prematurity Oscar has a range of health conditions including cerebral palsy and chronic lung disease. Jo-Anne is determined to use her experiences and passion to help other families in similar circumstances.

Noah’s Star officially launched in October 2017 at Birmingham Womens Hospital. They provide support to the siblings of babies who have been born prematurely or are experiencing health issues. This enables children to receive emotional support and encourage family bonds during a stressful experience. The support is provided both on a 1:1 basis and through a group facility using volunteers.

All profits raised will support Noah's Star .

If you are inspired by the excellent work done by Noah's Star then you can also donate your time by volunteering on the project at Birmingham Women's Hospital. Find out more www.facebook.com/noahsstar
