Thank you for taking the time to read my page.

On the 17th of March I am going to run my very first half marathon in Reading. What made me decide to run such a distance? The opportunity to challenge myself in doing something I have never even thought I would have done, but mainly the willingness to donate some money for a cause that is close to my heart.

Going back to my origins, I find myself in Italy, on my grandma’s lap carefully listening to her telling me a story. I have great respect for her, she could do everything and anything, she is a strong woman, who was happy of living with what she had. At the end of every story, I would have got down from her lap and she would have painfully stood up, saying “oh your old grandma needs to be thrown away”.

She had a form of arthritis that made her movements quite painful, however she never stopped. My mum also has Rheumatoid arthritis for which she has to constantly take medicine.

Both my mum and my grandma had a form of arthritis that made it possible for them to live their lives normally, however, not everyone is as lucky as they are, therefore I have decided to raise money for FIRA, an association that researches how to tackle rheumatic diseases in Italy.

To conclude, I am running this half marathon to help people affected by arthritis as well as for my Nonna. For several years she has been affected by a severe condition that will not allow her to see my achievement, however, I want to let her know that I aspire to be as strong as she is and running the half marathon would be the first step!

My aim is to raise £250, but every little donation would help!

Grazie per aver preso il tempo per leggere la mia pagina.

Il 17 Marzo correrò la mia prima mezza maratona a Reading. Che cosa mi ha spinto a correre questa distanza? L’opportunità di sfidare me stessa e fare qualcosa che non avrei minimamente pensato di poter fare, ma principalmente la volontà di donare dei soldi ad una causa che è molto vicina a me.

Tornando indietro alle mie origini, mi trovo in Italia seduta sulle gambe di mia nonna ascoltando con grande attenzione una sua storia. Ho un grande rispetto per lei, poteva fare qualsiasi cosa, è una donna molto forte che era contenta di vivere con ciò che aveva. Alla fine di ogni storia, sarei saltata giù dalle sue gambe e lei si sarebbe alzata dolorante dicendomi: “La nonna deve essere buttata via”.

Aveva una forma di artrite a causa della quale faceva fatica a muoversi, aveva dolori continui, ma non si è mai fermata. Anche mia mamma ha l’artrite reumatoide per la quale deve costantemente prendere medicine.

Sia mia mamma che mia nonna sono state affette da delle forme di artrite che gli hanno permesso di continuare la loro vita normalmente, non tutti però sono fortunati come loro. Per questi motivi ho deciso di donare dei soldi alla FIRA, associazione che fa ricerca sulle malattie reumatologiche.

Per concludere, corro questa mezza maratona per aiutare le persone affette da artrite e per la mia nonna. Da molti anni è affetta da una grave condizione che non le permetterà di vedere il mio risultato, ma voglio farle sapere che aspiro a diventare forte come lei e correre la mezza maratona sarà il primo passo verso ciò!

Il mio obbiettivo è di raggiungere £250, ma ogni donazione aiuterà!
