Story
For 17 years Benji lived with his owner and now he and his feline surrogate brother are to be homeless.
Benji has had an ongoing problem with his paw being infected and is to see the vet tomorrow to find out if it is starting to heal or if he needs a further course of antibiotics or worse still an anaesthetic so that the vet can investigate more easily the state of his paw and take samples for biopsy. If this doesn't happen tomorrow or in the next few days then he will be monitored over the next couple of weeks to see if the latter action needs to be taken.
We are currently trying to find him and his surrogate brother a new home. His owner has died and thus the costs of this either fall to the family or the new owner both of which could affect the decision about his future.
Please, can you help us raise funds towards the vet bills, which we think could be in the order of £200 if everything needs to be carried out. We can find out in the next couple of days how accurate that figure is after Benji has seen the vet tomorrow. The family are already meeting the costs of their care up to date but this is additional cost that no one had expected.
Benji!
We know The Willow fund is for an elderly resident on Arran whose sole companion is their cat but we have had a meeting and agreed that it is still in respect of an elderly resident but now 'late of Arran' and we hope that you can understand why we are asking for your help.
Just a small donation will go such a long way to assuring Benji and his surrogate brother can be rehomed and be well again.
Any monies not used for this fundraise will be lodged in The Willow Fund Bank account and used towards the next cat that needs help.

6 years agoHaving just posted an update about Benji I am back to post another update. The vet called me to let me know about the infection in Benji's paw. Sadly, whilst Benji was sedated the vet found that Benji's lungs were seriously damaged with a mycobacterial infection, possibly started by the wound in his paw. His lungs were so badly damaged and no antibiotic would change this that given this particular infection the vet had to make the very sad decision to put Benji to sleep. He was peaceful and one of his carers came so he was not alone.

6 years agoBenji had a sedative today so the vet could take samples for biopsy..so we can find out why his paw is taking a while to heal. We hope to hear about the results next week... This is Timmi , Benji's feline surrogate brother! Telling us he is so happy people are helping! Thank you.
