Weʼve raised £490 to Bring Bertie the stray Greek cat to UK to find her forever home.

    Story

Recently during a trip to Greece I noticed a stray cat very different to the rest. A small female Tabby who wanted to be loved came to me as if it was meant to be. I quickly learnt that she was injured and knew that I had to help her. With the help of my husband, some duct tape and a box I was able to trap this little tabby and take her to the vet.

Bertie (which means "bright promise") has been at the Pet Family vetinary clinic under the care of Dr. Alekos Panorias in Nikiti since the 4th of April where I have paid for her to have a painful mouth injury treated, sterilisation, parasite treatment and in course she will be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies. This has cost me hundreds of euros already and I now need help to bring her to the UK. She has come a long way but she now needs to come to UK to be loved and cared for as a family cat.

Some might ask why not just leave her in Greece. Unfortunately in Greece cats are not held in the same regard as they are in the UK. Many cats Inc pets are poisoned by people believing they are helping to solve the issue of stray animals - this leads to a slow and painful death as hungry cats unknowingly eat poisoned food.

Bertie as I have called her is cuddly, loving and only 2½ years old. On the streets she would be unlikely to reach the age of 4. Any small sum you could give would help me bring her to a loving family where she can live out the rest of her life happy, warm, fed and loved. I have already secured a Foster home for her in the interim but now my main focus is rasing the funds to get her a pet passport, microchip and transport to UK.

Anything you could give would be an incredible gift to a little cat who wants a safe and loving home. Thank you.

Hey 😊update on Bertie.I have just spoken to a lovely lady called Olga who runs a cattery and after 4 weeks of being in a cage I wanted Bertie to be moved to a place where she has more room to stretch her legs and get more cuddles.Olga will arrange for a Bertie to come to her hopefully this week. After this we'll arrange her microchip/rabies jab & passport. It might be easier to bring her to France where I can then meet her and drive her to her Foster home in the UK. I will ask for some pics of our little kitty and share them of course 💜🐈❤️
