This summer I will be volunteering with Brockenhurst college as part of a project called "Melon Mission" in Nakuru, Kenya. The school contains 500 children from the ages of 3-16. This project aims to provide food, education and clothing to these children. Currently cowsheds are used for classrooms and there is limited sanitation, a basic kitchen and no electricity. New proposed plans are to build a new site with permanent buildings with new equipment and desks for a more positive learning environment. I will be going out their to help with some maintence work, painting and decorating, assisting with food preparation and engaging with the children in the classroom and activities. All the funds raised will go directly to resources for the school and the children.
