Blanka has been my best friend for nearly 6 years now.
Around 3 months ago we started noticing that his behaviour was changing. He was always a very lively, very well behaved and extremely loving dog. He made everyone he met smile with his massive ears and huge personality. He has adventured across the country with me, climbing mountains, playing on beaches, camping and loving every minute of it.
His behaviour started to change and he began to seem unhappy and slightly disorientated. We initially thought he had an issue with his leg, and he was in pain. After going through numerous tests and medication we discovered this wasn't the cause. The veterinarians have come to the conclusion that it is a neurological issue, gradually over time this issue has become more apparent, he walks in circles, bumps into things and doesn't quite know where to put his feet.
Two days ago Blanka fell asleep and would not wake up. Initially I thought he had suffered a stroke and prepared myself to make the hardest decision of my life. But to everyone's shock he came round, and carried on tottering around just as he had before. However this shock has caused me to push forward with more treatment. He is clearly a fighter and wants to be by my side for longer.
To find out what Blanka is suffering from and have a clear diagnosis to proceed with treatment on him I am needing to raise £1500 to pay for an MRI scan.
I love my dog dearly, he has been my support through some of the most difficult years of my life and I am forever indebted to him for the years of love he has given me, all the tears he has made go away, all the goofiness and all the incredible memories I have with him.
