There is a huge on going issue in Borneo at the moment where local families are being made to sell their land to huge palm plantations, which is changing the islands biodiversity drastically. large amounts of the jungles in Borneo are being cut down which is also endangering animals. A group of 14 others and I are going to be travelling to a place called Kudat on the coast of Borneo in June 2019. Local farmers are being pressured by big companies to sell their land as they have no other source of income, so we're going to help by working on an environmental community project, to encourage the local community that there are other ways of making money by rebuilding paths, re forestation, maintenance work to local buildings or any work that needs to be done to help the community, in order to bring tourists and money into the area. While we are there we will be teaching the local children about these issues and playing sports with them to build their confidnece to interact with others. On this expedition I would like to make a positive impact on the local community. I am determined to put in my all, as well as my team to do what has to be done to help the Malayan people. I Believe the experiences I will have will have a huge impact on my future life and I will be able to educate others on my experience.
